Night Shift, by Mahmut Aksoy

Posted on November 13, 2019

Translated by Neeli Cherkovski

Not just my thoughts

All assets and souls

At night, however,

he hears himself,

he discovers new thoughts.

Wide and deep trenches where many

sleep

A slice of my soul just happens to be

everywhere

A slice of love and a slice of memories

A slice of tart loneliness

Stops running around my blue reverie

Night is a game of hide and seek

Malabadi Bridge players are inside

My thoughts and my soul;

They stop after gossip precipitates

a late coffee

I blow the smoke off a balcony.
